The Town of Johnstown, Colorado is actively hiring a new Utilities Director to be part of their dynamic and passionate team. The selected Utilities Director will manage water and wastewater operations and infrastructure, ensuring the effective management of a utility budget and leading a team to achieve excellence in service capabilities.

Responsibilities

Possess a unique blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and strong experience of water and sewer operations and infrastructure management

Management of a team of similar size and composition is expected and essential to the job

Management and oversight of a utility budget for both water and wastewater are expected to help ensure success of the departments and the organization

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Town Management, Town Council, department heads, local, state, federal agencies, stakeholders, and within the community

Be an effective mentor and inspire staff to achieve excellence

Effective communication along with strong collaboration and team building skills will be necessary

Required

Requires a minimum of 5 years of increasing experience in the leadership, direction and project management of infrastructure construction and maintenance projects for water and/or wastewater

A unique blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and strong experience of water and sewer operations and infrastructure management

A robust background in strategic planning, budget management, and capital expenditures

Management of a team of similar size and composition is expected and essential to the job

Management and oversight of a utility budget for both water and wastewater are expected to help ensure success of the departments and the organization

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Town Management, Town Council, department heads, local, state, federal agencies, stakeholders, and within the community

Effective communication along with strong collaboration and team building skills

Advanced written and oral communication skills are imperative

Preferred

Experience as a Utility Director or Utility Deputy Director preferred

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in environmental engineering, civil engineering, chemistry or a closely related field is desired

Master's Degree desired

Water and/or Wastewater Certifications are also highly desired
