Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor
The Oklahoma City VA Health Care System is hiring for one Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor. The role involves providing professional counseling and mental health services, including diagnosing and treating mental disorders, conducting assessments, and collaborating with healthcare staff.

Responsibilities
Diagnoses mental disorders
Treats mental disorders with a wide range of patients using a variety of modalities, including: individual, family and group counseling, triage/crisis management, and other interventions such as community based interventions
Conducts initial intakes/biopsychosocial assessments and treatment planning in accordance with Joint Commission/VA requirements and service/clinic-level SOP
Practices measurement-based care using the Collect, Share, Act model, in accordance with Joint Commission/VA requirements and service/clinic-level SOP
Consults with OKC VA Health Care System staff on a wide variety of patient care issues
Consults with referring provider/team and other OKC VA HCS mental health staff, as necessary, on a wide variety of patient care issues
Participates in regularly scheduled Program/Clinic team meeting(s)
Evaluates and makes disposition of patients to treatment programs in the OKC VA Health Care System, as well as referral to community programs and vocational placement
Serves as a consultant to other staff in evaluating and assisting Veterans with complex vocational problems
Enters consults for Veterans when clinically indicated (with order signed by LIP)
Ensures documentation is completed timely and within the facility guidelines/regulations
Ensures coding is in accordance with the VA Office of Mental Health, Mental Health Coding Guidelines
Places RTCs in accordance with VHA directives and scheduling guidelines to ensure accurate patient appointment scheduling

Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP)
Must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to independently practice as a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor
Master's or doctoral degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, or a related field from an accredited program
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for GS-09 and GS-11 levels as specified in the job description
Ability to engage in intake and assessment, problem identification, diagnosis, treatment planning and implementation, continuum of care, evaluation and follow-up
Knowledge of current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) of Mental Disorders in formulation of treatment goals and application of appropriate clinical interventions
Basic knowledge of professional counseling practice with emphasis on human development principles
Ability to use a wide variety of individual, group, or family counseling interventions
Ability to serve on an interdisciplinary team
Basic skill in the use of computer software applications for drafting documents and maintaining accurate clinical documentation
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people from varied backgrounds
