Responsibilities
Perform detailed and accurate quantity takeoffs for all commercial carpentry scopes, including rough carpentry (framing, blocking, sheathing), finish carpentry (doors, frames, hardware, trim, casework), and specialty installations, from construction drawings and specifications
Develop comprehensive cost estimates, including material costs, labor hours, equipment rentals, and subcontractor bids, for all carpentry-related scopes
Solicit, review, and analyze bids from carpentry subcontractors and suppliers. Ensure bids are complete, compliant with project specifications, and align with the project budget
Clearly define the scope of work for carpentry packages to minimize gaps or overlaps between trades
Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost-saving measures without compromising quality or project requirements
Prepare and maintain organized documentation for all estimates, including assumptions, clarifications, exclusions, and scope sheets
Work closely with the Project Management team during the project handover phase to ensure the awarded scope aligns with the final estimate
Maintain and update a database of current material and labor costs to ensure the accuracy and competitiveness of estimates
Qualification
Required
3-5+ years of progressive experience in commercial construction estimating, with a focus on interior and exterior carpentry
Direct experience in the field as a Carpenter or Foreman is a significant advantage
Proficiency with industry-standard estimating software (e.g., Planswift, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel expertise is essential)
Deep understanding of commercial carpentry practices, building codes, construction means and methods, and common construction documents (drawings, specifications, RFIs)
Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of numerical accuracy
Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
[Associate's/Bachelor's] degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred
