The Parish Social Ministry Developer will provide consultation services to parishes, conduct training programs, and advocate for social justice while supporting the well-being of others on Long Island.

Responsibilities

Provide ongoing and specialized consultation services to parishes including assessments of and recommendations for PSM programs, as well as guidance on complex client cases
Convene regular deanery meetings of PSM Coordinators and develop and enable Coordinator leadership within deaneries
Develop and communicate resources and networking in a variety of areas to parishes as needed
Design, initiate, facilitate and conduct training programs for Coordinators and Volunteers
Encourage and facilitate parish development actions and advocacy for social justice
Review and recommend financial assistance applications submitted by parishes on behalf of clients
Coordinate with parishes on application process
Participate in trainings and conferences to maintain current knowledge of resources, trends, needs and skills

Qualification

Parish Social Ministry experienceHuman Services degreeMicrosoft Office SuiteEffective communicationBilingual in Spanish/English

Required

Ability to identify priorities, multi-task and deliver independent, effective follow up
Effective communication skills especially ability to listen to a broad array of constituencies
Availability for extensive travel across Long Island with occasional weekend/evening hours
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Valid NYS Driver's license

Preferred

Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Theology and/or training in a related field
Previous experience as a Parish Social Ministry Coordinator
Bilingual capability in Spanish/English
