They are seeking a Senior Counsel, Litigation to join their in-house litigation team, responsible for advising internal clients, managing litigation matters, and collaborating with outside counsel.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a diverse portfolio of litigation matters and pre-litigation claims

Oversee all aspects of litigation matters, including e-discovery, fact-finding and analysis, witness preparation, depositions, case management conferences, and motion practice

Draft and edit legal papers, including pleadings, briefs, declarations, discovery demands and responses

Collaborate with outside counsel and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives and legal strategy

Respond to third-party claims and subpoenas, including subpoenas seeking newsgathering material

Required

JD from an accredited law school and member in good standing of the New York or California bar

8+ years litigation experience, with significant exposure to media law, intellectual property litigation, and general commercial disputes

Exceptional legal writing and editing skills

Proven ability to manage complex litigation, with ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Superior judgment and professionalism to resolve legal issues quickly

Deep understanding of First Amendment and defamation law

Preferred

Prior experience at or representing media companies is strongly preferred

Experience with news, entertainment, and/or intellectual property litigation
