Responsibilities

Oversee the full continuum of pediatric cardiology services including fetal cardiology, outpatient and inpatient care, imaging, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, and adult congenital heart disease (ACHD)
Work closely with surgical and critical care teams to ensure excellent outcomes
Perform full range of ablation, device procedures in pediatric and adult congenital heart disease patients and interpret cardiopulmonary stress tests
Conduct monthly pediatric cardiology business meetings focused on transparency and performance improvement to include clinical metrics, growth strategies, quality initiatives, and patient access
Partner with our office manager to optimize physician scheduling and procedural allocation
Perform clinical responsibility in specialty area
Responsible for overseeing the recruitment, retention, and development of faculty across all subspecialty domains
Work closely with hospital and departmental leadership to advocate for resources, shape workforce planning, and ensure alignment with institutional goals
Lead annual reviews and professional development planning for faculty members, provide mentorship and feedback, and guide academic promotion efforts
Support the development of clinical niche areas for faculty, including expanding programs in ACHD, fetal cardiology, cardiac imaging, heart failure, and electrophysiology
Work with administrative teams to monitor budgets, manage division operations, and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
Mentor junior faculty through structured career development plans, regular feedback sessions, and support for academic advancement
Create a supportive and collaborative culture that encourages scholarly productivity and personal growth
Work closely with division members to define clinical interests, align those with institutional priorities, and create customized pathways for skill development and leadership growth
Serve as the preceptor for adult cardiology fellows from Hartford Hospital, UCONN Health (John Dempsey Hospital) and Danbury Hospital
Collaborate with adult cardiology leadership to define and implement the strategic roadmap for the Cardiovascular Institute
Develop shared initiatives in population health, digital transformation, preventive cardiology, and value-based care
Facilitate collaboration between pediatric and adult services, especially in areas like Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD), inherited cardiovascular disorders, and shared imaging or interventional platforms
Build bridges across departments such as cardiothoracic surgery, radiology, critical care, and nursing to deliver coordinated, high-value care
Monitor and improve key performance indicators across the cardiovascular enterprise including volume growth, access metrics, cost efficiency, and patient satisfaction
Participate in joint monthly operational meetings with the institute’s executive leadership team to address service line goals, barriers, and growth opportunities
Represent the Cardiovascular Institute in external collaborations, philanthropic activities, and advocacy efforts
Engage in community outreach, alumni relations, and institutional branding in alignment with the hospital’s mission
Spearhead efforts in care redesign, including telehealth expansion, AI-supported diagnostics, and enhanced care coordination for complex cardiac patients
Lead initiatives in health equity and outcomes tracking to ensure inclusive, data-driven decision-making

Required

10 years of progressively complex administrative experience in an academic medical center setting
5 years Leadership experience
Licensed and registered, and in good standing under the laws of the State of Connecticut
BC/BE Pediatric Cardiologist
DEA with Controlled Substance required and must be maintained thereafter
