Solar Design Engineer
Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking a Senior Solar Systems Design Engineer for a top Renewable Energy client. This high-impact role requires at least five years of experience to lead the comprehensive engineering and design of technically complex solar PV plus energy storage systems for commercial and industrial projects.
Logistics & Supply Chain
Responsibilities
Conduct site walks, gather and analyze site data (electrical, structural, environmental), and evaluate feasibility for PV + Energy Storage System (ESS) projects
Lead detailed system designs, including site plans, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), conduit schedules, and complex utility interconnection packages
Utilize industry-standard tools like PVSyst, Helioscope, HOMER, and SAM for performance modeling and accurate energy estimates
Ensure all system designs rigorously meet relevant codes and standards (NEC, CEC, UL, IEEE) and specific utility requirements
Coordinate effectively with project managers, utilities, permitting authorities, and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle
Support all necessary permitting, utility interconnection, and final commissioning activities
Set and refine internal CAD standards and oversee drafting workflows to maintain high quality and efficiency
Drive continuous improvement of internal design templates and engineering processes
Qualification
Required
At least five years of experience in engineering and design of solar PV plus energy storage systems for commercial and industrial projects
Experience conducting site walks, gathering and analyzing site data (electrical, structural, environmental), and evaluating feasibility for PV + Energy Storage System (ESS) projects
Ability to lead detailed system designs, including site plans, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), conduit schedules, and complex utility interconnection packages
Proficiency in industry-standard tools like PVSyst, Helioscope, HOMER, and SAM for performance modeling and accurate energy estimates
Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (NEC, CEC, UL, IEEE) and specific utility requirements
Strong coordination skills with project managers, utilities, permitting authorities, and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle
Experience supporting permitting, utility interconnection, and final commissioning activities
Ability to set and refine internal CAD standards and oversee drafting workflows
Commitment to driving continuous improvement of internal design templates and engineering processes
