Electrical Engineer I/II/III Avionics

Responsibilities
Perform engineering tasks in support of the Flight and Ground Systems such as Avionics, Electrical Power, Pyrotechnics, Comm and Tracking, Ground Instrumentation, Kennedy Ground Control Systems engineering group
Candidate will support preparations for assembly, test, processing, and launch of NASA's Space Launch System and Orion spacecraft as well as Ground Support Systems
Initial assignments will focus on understanding the ground application software used during ground processing and vehicle launch. Developing Work Authorization Documents to process, test and launch the SLS Rocket and Orion Spacecraft and Kennedy Ground Control Systems
Candidates will be required to develop and apply knowledge of technical principles, vehicle processing operations concepts, ground to vehicle interfaces, and vehicle/ground system design and operation. Additional responsibilities in system training, vehicle processing, and launch certification will follow
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution
Must be able to climb stairs to access equipment for troubleshooting
Climbing ladders and platforms will be necessary
Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment
Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing
Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures
Must be able to work in tight confined space areas
All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards
Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex
Position requires daily individual to travel to different areas on site
Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility
Operate computer terminals, personal computers, and related computer peripheral equipment to maintain/adjust database logs and records, print documents and record work performance
Must be dependable and punctual
Occasional overtime, sometimes with short notice, is required to meet demanding schedule
If offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required
Needs to have clear, concise, and accurate communication skills
Must have ability to work well with office staff and customer representatives
Government security clearance may be required in the future
Must be able to travel to support position requirements
Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others
Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management
Must pass a federal background investigation
Must comply with all 'drug free workplace' requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions
