They are seeking a part-time Senior Aquatic Scientist to join their Fish and Aquatic Sciences team in Northern California, focusing on advanced analyses of fisheries and aquatic data to inform regulatory requirements and management decisions.

Responsibilities

Conduct fisheries and water quality investigations on data collected across California
Assist with study plan development and implementation, including describing study objectives, data collection, analytical approaches, analyses and report/manuscript preparation in support of field experiments, management actions, and habitat restoration
Lead and support studies primarily involving fish, hydrodynamic, and water quality data sets
Provide excellent time/budget management, organizational capabilities, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to help deliver projects on time and within budgeting in a fast-paced work environment
Use experience and critical thinking to select, and apply standard techniques, methods and procedures for components of a wide range of complex tasks and assignments

Required

You have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the fisheries or aquatic biology field
You have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the field
You have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience with operating and trailering boats, using a wide range of fish and water quality sampling gear, and performing light maintenance on sampling gear and equipment
You have experience completing complex fish and hydrodynamic data analyses, including acoustic telemetry data processing and analysis
You have experience working on fish guidance structure design development and analysis and report preparation
You have previous experience in analyzing complex data sets using advanced machine learning and statistical approaches
You will thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment and can manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines while working on a team or independently
You shall provide excellent time/budget management, organizational capabilities, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills
You shall collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to help deliver projects on time and within budgeting in a fast-paced work environment
You shall use your experience and critical thinking to select, and apply standard techniques, methods and procedures for components of a wide range of complex tasks and assignments
