LINE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC II

The Line Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for the installation, replacement, repair, and maintenance of water and sewer lines, ensuring infrastructure meets community needs and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities
Serve as back-up to Line Maintenance Crew Leader
Operate tapping machine to make water and sewer taps and service connections meet standards
Lay water and sewer pipe; repair and replace sewer and water lines and related facilities
Install, service, and test water meters and meter setters
Operate sewer rodder to clear and unstop sewer lines
Operate front-end loader, dump trucks, jackhammers, tampers, pipe threading machines, tapping machines, trenchers, air compressors, and boring machines
Install hydrants, meters, valves, clamps, and related pipeline apparatus; set meter boxes; repair and replace fire hydrants
Operate tractor with bush hog attachment to mow and maintain sewer and water line easements and rights-of-way
Perform other related tasks as required
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED
Three to five years of experience in construction-related utility work
Possession of a valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (Class A) with Tanker endorsement or ability to obtain within 18 months of hire
Preferred
State Collection System I and/or Water Distribution C Certification strongly preferred
