Director, Marketing Services (Creative Lead)

United Way of the Midlands is a community-focused organization serving the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro since 1923. The Director of Marketing Services will lead the creative team, ensuring a cohesive approach to marketing while managing workflows and providing strategic direction for various marketing projects.

Non-profit Organization Management

Responsibilities

Leads the execution of design, digital and other marketing materials, ensuring materials reflect UWM’s brand essence, visual identity and tone
Provides design review and strategic direction to ensure a unified voice and visual presence across materials
Develops clear, concise creative briefs and brand guidelines that direct teams on how materials should look, feel, and function — aligning with the intended audience and outcome
Identifies needs and pro-actively develops branded assets across all campaigns and programs
Facilitates, manages and updates creative templates and tools to support efficient production
Serves as the point of coordination for design, digital and multimedia marketing requests after intake is managed and assessed by operations
Assigns creative tasks, defines deliverables and clarifies timelines in collaboration with operations and events
Monitors progress of active projects, ensuring alignment with timelines, quality standards and priorities
Flags potential roadblocks early and works cross-functionally to keep projects on track
Manages marketing services budget pro-actively and strategically, maximizing and tracking inkind contributions
Provides hands-on graphic design/photo/video support, stepping in to support high-volume periods and priority projects
Collaborates with other contributors to fill capacity gaps and meet deadlines
Ensures all designed materials meet UWM brand guidelines and accessibility standards
Supports constructive work-life prioritization to maintain team morale while delivering high-quality, mission-driven work
Builds, leads and mentors a team of creative marketing professionals
Oversees the daily workflow of the branding, digital and design professionals
Interviews, hires, and trains staff in the department
Conducts timely and constructive performance evaluations

Required

Strong creative judgment with the ability to guide and produce high-quality materials that align with brand standards
Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with flexibility to adjust plans when needed
Excellent team management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines and deliverables
Hands-on proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, proficiency with photo and video equipment with an eye for detail and visual consistency
Proven experience developing and interpreting creative briefs that translate strategic goals into clear, actionable direction
Effective communicator and team collaborator — able to navigate feedback loops, clarify needs and work constructively across departments
Ability to see the big picture while managing the day-to-day details that keep projects moving forward
Committed to supporting team cohesion, work-life balance, and a positive, inclusive workplace culture
Deep understanding of how creative services support fundraising, donor engagement and community impact
Ability to uphold brand standards while bringing fresh, audience-centered ideas to the table
Bachelor's degree (required) from a four-year accredited college or university in marketing, graphic design or similar field
7-10 years of related experience in graphic design, strategic marketing, branding, photography or video
At least five (5) years of supervision experience including leading a marketing and communications team composed of graphic design, social media, design, and branding while guiding the strategic marketing of an organization

Preferred

Preferred experience or familiarity with marketing software like HubSpot
