Responsibilities
Actively participate in the collection, processing, and proper storage of tissue and blood specimens, ensuring specimens are directed to the appropriate storage locations and ready for research use
Develop, maintain, and update a centralized database of all specimens collected by Department of Surgery investigators, ensuring accurate tracking and data integrity
Assist trainees and faculty in preparing, compiling, and submitting funding applications related to biobanking projects, including grant documentation and coordination with mentors
Lead in the establishment and maintenance of IRB applications for the collection of benign tissue and blood specimens, ensuring compliance with institutional and federal guidelines
Qualification
Required
A high school diploma and four years of relevant program experience
A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience
Preferred
A bachelor's degree
Works independently with minimal supervision
Must exercise judgment and discretion
Establish and maintain effective working relationships
Must be able to communicate effectively
