Responsibilities

Assist with tasks or projects related to the area of study
Assist in developing innovative mechanical solutions to refine and deploy concepts, technologies, and designs associated with X-energy developed reactors, including pressure vessels and piping, reactor internals, nuclear fuel, and high temperature materials such as graphite
Integrate design activities across engineering team members, partners, and suppliers and perform supporting scoping and sizing calculations to downselect design features to meet design requirements using guidance from consensus codes and standards
Create and maintain CAD-generated engineering models of reactor SSCs
Provide support for day-to-day departmental or team operations
Participate in brainstorming sessions, meetings, and project discussions offering input and feedback when appropriate
Attend team meetings and contribute ideas and suggestions to enhance operational efficiency or project outcomes
Help organize and maintain project files, documents, and records
Conduct research and gather information for ongoing initiatives and projects
Help prepare reports, presentations, or other materials as needed

Required

Current student or recent graduate pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering, or related engineering discipline (e.g., nuclear aerospace, chemical, etc.) from an accredited institution required
Proficiency with engineering hand calculations is required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred

At least one letter of recommendation as part of the application process. Letters should be from a professor, academic advisor, employer, or professional mentor who can speak to the candidate's qualifications
