Academic Simulation Skills Lab Coordinator - CON Administration - Full Time - Days

The Christ Hospital Health Network is seeking an Academic Simulation Skills Lab Coordinator to supervise the day-to-day operations of the simulation and skills lab. This role involves ensuring high-quality learning experiences, collaborating with faculty for curriculum alignment, and managing lab resources and activities to support nursing and health science education.

Responsibilities

Organize and maintain the simulation and clinical lab spaces, simulators, task trainers, AV systems, software, and medical devices are functional, properly maintained, and ready for instructional use
Develop and manage schedules for simulation sessions, skills labs, and faculty training sessions
Develop, implement, and enforce safety standards, lab policies, and ensure adherence to accreditation and regulatory requirements
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for simulation implementation in both classroom and clinical settings, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance
Prepare simulation spaces, set up equipment, and operate simulation-related technology during sessions, ensuring realism and instructional effectiveness
Manage lab inventory and supplies and ensure accurate recordkeeping of supply usage by course and clinical labs
Monitor expenditures and contribute to the annual budget by providing recommendations regarding equipment, supplies, and technology needs
Ensure the goals of the simulation and skills labs align with institutional and programmatic priorities
Partner with faculty to integrate simulation and lab activities into course curricula, ensuring alignment with course objectives, program outcomes, and competency requirements
Collaborate with course and clinical leads at least one month before each semester to confirm simulation plans, determine any revisions, and coordinate scheduling
Provide orientation and ongoing training to faculty and students on simulation technologies, best practices, procedures, and debriefing methodologies to maximize learning outcomes
Regularly evaluate simulation and lab operations using feedback and outcomes data. Implement improvements to enhance educational effectiveness and efficiency
Maintain comprehensive records for each simulation. Documentation includes simulation outcomes, pre-work, scenario details, alignment to course/program outcomes and competencies, and customized debriefing materials
Actively participate in shared governance and program committees
Attend graduation and appropriate events

Required

Clinical and/or teaching experience in healthcare education
Bachelor's degree in clinical practice discipline or related field
Two years clinical and/or teaching experience in healthcare education
Proficiency in simulation technology and healthcare equipment
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Certification as CHSE (Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator) or CHSOS (Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist) offered by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) within three years from date of hire

Preferred

Master's degree in clinical practice discipline or related field
