Responsibilities

Define and execute the technical vision for AssetMark's enterprise platform architecture, including services, APIs, data models, and integration patterns
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering organization of 40-50+ engineers focused on platform development and data management
Transform our technology infrastructure into a modern, API-first platform that enables rapid product development and seamless integration
Establish and safeguard canonical source-of-truth data systems and governance policies on top of Snowflake across the enterprise in conjunction with our Data Engineering team
Design and implement standardized patterns for service integration, data exchange, and cross-application workflows
Develop comprehensive technical standards, best practices, and reference architectures for platform components
Create and enforce API design principles, versioning strategies, and governance models that enable controlled evolution of the platform
Ensure platform architecture meets stringent security, compliance, and regulatory requirements for financial services
Collaborate closely with the Head of Platform Product and the Head of Data Platform Engineering to align technical capabilities with business objectives and product roadmaps
Partner with product application engineering teams to facilitate adoption of platform services and APIs while providing guidance on implementation
Design systems that meet stringent performance requirements and can scale to support business growth
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities for platform innovation
Help further our journey to becoming a world class engineering team backed by industry best practices for engineering

Required

15+ years of software engineering experience with at least 8+ years in platform engineering leadership roles
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
Deep expertise in designing and implementing API-first, service-oriented architectures
Extensive experience with data modeling, master data management, and enterprise data governance
Strong background in cloud-native architectures, microservices, event-driven systems, and modern development practices
Track record of successfully transforming legacy systems into modern, scalable platform architectures
Expertise in establishing engineering excellence through standardization, automation, and best practices
Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code principles
Proven experience building and leading large engineering teams (40+ engineers) in enterprise environments
Experience implementing technology platforms in regulated industries, preferably in financial services
Strategic vision with ability to translate business needs into technology platforms
Exceptional people leadership skills with demonstrated success building and scaling high-performing engineering organizations
Strong executive presence and communication skills with ability to influence across all levels of the organization
Collaborative approach to working with product management and other technology leaders
Proven change management skills and ability to drive organizational transformation
Decisive problem-solving with pragmatic approach to balancing short-term needs with long-term architecture goals

Preferred

Experience with Snowflake data platform is helpful
Advanced degree preferred, or equivalent experience
