College Intern – Risk Assessment (Summer 2026)

The Ohio Department of Insurance is seeking dedicated college students for a summer internship in Risk Assessment. Interns will gain hands-on experience in insurance regulation, financial solvency monitoring, and corporate governance review while supporting the mission of protecting Ohio insurance consumers.

Responsibilities

Assist analysts in reviewing insurance company filings, including statutory financial statements, audited financial reports, and corporate governance annual disclosures
Support financial examination teams by helping gather and organize documentation during examinations of licensed insurers
Contribute to the review process for insurance company expansion applications by compiling and analyzing relevant information
Conduct research on insurance companies using statutory accounting resources and other internal tools to assess their business profiles, financial condition, and overall industry reputation
Attend meetings with insurance companies to observe discussions related to operations, corporate governance, and accounting practices
Enter and maintain accurate data in internal databases and assist with scanning, organizing, and filing documents
Perform general administrative and support tasks as assigned by the Risk Assessment team

Required

Must be enrolled in higher education program with sophomore standing or higher with a concentration in Risk Management and/or Insurance, finance, or accounting, and have a 2.5 GPA or higher
Must have superb organizational skills
Must have the ability to work in a team-oriented atmosphere
Must have experience working with Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
