Technical Sales/Applications Engineer
Q-Lab Corporation is a global leader in providing material durability testing products. They are seeking a Technical Sales/Applications Engineer to be responsible for sales, new business development, and providing technical expertise for Q-PANEL standard test substrates.

Responsibilities
Pursue sales leads for potential and existing customers of Q-PANEL test substrates received from industry ads, trade shows, web inquiries, webinars, and other sources
Prospect for new customers, call companies to identify and contact key decision makers, and sell Q-PANEL test substrates to new customers via telephone, e-mail, direct customer visits, and trade show attendance
Analyzes customer sales history of Q-PANEL test substrates to support development of strategic, targeted sales/marketing activities
Travel, when required, throughout the U.S. (and potentially internationally, on occasion) to educate, close sales, build relationships, and conduct technical training
Demonstrate and describe Q-PANEL products and emphasizes salable features
Give technical presentations at in-person seminars and online webinars
Prepare quotations for customers and assists with developing contracts for key and high-volume Q-PANEL customers
Help edit, manage, and maintain database of existing and potential customers (CRM system)
Prepare reports detailing sales activities
Follow up with existing customers to confirm customer is satisfied with Q-Lab’s products and answer any quality or technical questions
Advise customers on types of substrates to purchase, considering such factors as costs, material type, and intended end-use application
Make recommendations for product line extensions and/or new business development
Participates in the review and writing of international standards relating to standardized panel substrates
Supports Director of Panel Operations in investigating and resolving supplier or internal processing raw material, coating, cleaning or other quality issues
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science-related field (Materials, Metallurgy, or Chemistry preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience
Must be able to travel overnight up to 10-15%, including occasional international travel
Has ability to effectively present information and close sales at many different levels within a company, including C-Suite, VPs, Lab Managers, Engineers, and Chemists
Able to calculate and apply figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
Possesses good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Preferred
Minimum of five years of industrial sales experience
Is well-connected in or knowledgeable about the paint, coatings, and/or plating industry
Understands the science, characterization, technology, and processing of metals
Familiarity with different metal finishes, including pre-treatment, painting, and plating
Familiar with testing applications using a variety of metal substrates, such as corrosion, hiding power, lap shear, and weatherability
