Trade Compliance Analyst

Responsibilities

Responsible for providing clear and accurate clearance instructions to AAR customs brokers and carriers
Maintain awareness of countries of concern and red flags and assist in evaluation of transactions based on risk analysis
Understand and apply US Customs Import and Census Export regulations regarding valuation, marking, classification, trade agreements, and special provisions
Assist in auditing, record keeping and compliance requirements for all Import and Export shipments or transactions to include Licenses, aircraft, aircraft related shipments and reports
Understand trade compliance laws and regulations such as the CFR Titles 15 and 19, ITAR, EAR, and OFAC, and implement industry best practices in accordance with those laws and regulations
Use and keep abreast of on-line systems including but not limited to DECCS, Snap-R, and ACE Portal. and aid in training and resolving issues and errors
Provide guidance on operational level matters such as Schedule B and Harmonized Tariff classifications
Understand department process flows, constantly looking for areas of improved efficiency
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

At least 2 years' experience in US import and export regulations and procedures or equivalent education
Licensed Customs Broker a plus
Working knowledge of ITAR/EAR
Attention to detail is required and must be able to work under general direction, plan schedule and arrange own activities in accomplishing department objectives
Ability to seek out self-directed learning opportunities to ensure current knowledge and best practices
Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results
Pro-active, strong organizational skills
Good computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Fluent in English

Preferred

Strong analytical, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills
Problem solving skills: Develops solutions to a variety of complex problems
