RENTAL APPRENTICE TECHNICIAN

New GradCarter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer for several states, is hiring a Rental Apprentice Technician. This role involves training to troubleshoot and repair diesel equipment, with the goal of becoming a certified Construction Equipment Technician after a 15-month apprenticeship.

Responsibilities
Accurately troubleshoot and diagnose diesel equipment problems
Perform repairs, recondition and service heavy equipment and components
Complete service reports and provide pertinent details for work orders
Prepare required documentation including work orders, parts lists, and time cards in an accurate and timely manner
Occasionally operate heavy equipment
Promote a positive customer experience
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED
Self-starter able to work with limited supervision and meet deadlines
Strong mechanical aptitude and excellent troubleshooting skills
Proficient in the use of a computer, Microsoft Office products and service software required in position
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Able to read and understand operating manuals
Must be able to occasionally operate heavy equipment
Must be self-directed, organized, able to interact with coworkers, and work as an integral part of a team
Must be able to work all shifts and overtime as needed to meet customer needs

Ability to lift, carry and maneuver items up to 70 pounds
Ability to perform repeated reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending and climbing beside, onto and under a variety of heavy equipment
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus
Preferred
Completion of a Mechanical Votech program
