Responsibilities
Support the Chantilly site programs in developing and managing software activities across various active projects / programs
Lead a software team working within the Chantilly E&S department
Coordinate programs for staffing, recruiting, training, preparing and delivering performance reviews to employees
Evaluate employees for promotions, evaluating salaries and compensation, assisting employees in preparing performance goals
Provide career guidance to employees and counseling employees on their performance as necessary
Periodic review, update, and definition of technical process documents
Provide and perform technical support
Accountable to stakeholders and program managers for project status reviews, impediments / roadblock resolution, and the overall engineering / product quality execution
Partnering with the program management office to ensure successful execution while accounting for cost, schedule, and resources management targets
Provide technical leadership to the execution team to ensure that best practices as well as the applicable engineering processes and procedures are fully and adequately implemented
Support the implementation of sustainable continuous improvement
Support the development and implementation of a critical skills growth strategy focused on building world class execution teams
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with 5+ years of experience within a related software engineering field., OR Masters degree in Science, Technology Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with 3+ years of experience within a related software engineering field
U.S. citizenship required with an active Secret clearance to start
Strong communication skills and the ability to lead a diverse multi-disciplinary team with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching
Hands-on programming experience with one or more high-level programming languages such as Python, C/C++, Java, C#
Supporting the development and implementation of a critical skills growth strategy focused on building world class execution teams
Preferred
Master's degree or PhD in computer science or computer engineering with 3+ years within a related engineering field
Experience managing engineering teams of 6 or more
Experience with full-stack software engineering
Experience with software CI/CD tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins
Experience with development task tracking software such as Jira or Azure DevOps
Experience with SQL and NoSQL database design, management, optimization, and interaction
Experience with Agile software development, object-oriented architecture, software integration and testing
Software rapid prototyping experience to include designing and implementing solutions with minimal formal requirements
The ability to learn new technologies quickly and independently solve problems in a fast-paced environment
Full life cycle design, implementation, and feature/automated testing of software
