Responsibilities
Lead the conceptual design, development, and implementation of industrial control systems (heat tracing, pump control, valve automation)
Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical oversight to junior engineers
Create control system architectures, functional specifications, heat trace designs, and detailed system documentation
Program and configure PLCs, DCSs, SCADA systems, and HMIs
Design control panels and specify instrumentation and control hardware
Conduct site walkdowns to gather requirements and develop system architectures
Perform simulations, FATs, and system commissioning activities
Troubleshoot and optimize existing control systems for performance and efficiency
Manage project schedules, budgets, resources, and milestones
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary engineering teams and maintain strong client relationships
Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in industrial controls
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
7+ years of experience in industrial control systems engineering
Strong hands-on expertise with PLCs, DCSs, SCADA systems, heat trace controls, and industrial networks
Proficiency in ladder logic, function block, and related programming languages
Experience with major platforms (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens, Emerson, Thermon, ABB, Raychem)
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication, leadership, and team management abilities
Willingness to travel to project sites as needed
Preferred
PE license preferred but not required
Experience leading large-scale control system projects from concept through commissioning
Familiarity with applicable industry codes, standards, and best practices
Commitment to staying current on advancements in industrial control and automation
