Electrical Power Systems Engineer - Generation
Seattle City Light is one of the nation’s largest municipally owned utilities, and they are seeking two licensed Professional Electrical Engineers to join their Generation Electrical Engineering Section. The engineers will support the operations of hydroelectric power plants and lead various engineering projects related to electrical systems.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be assigned to work on projects based on their experience and project needs, and could be asked to work on any of the following:
Hydroelectric generators, transformers, circuit breakers, governors, and exciters
Balance of plant (BOP) equipment such as batteries, and AC power distribution and SCADA systems
Plant Controls, Automation, and Relay Protection
Equipment associated auxiliary systems including hydraulic power units, standby generators, and compressors
Spillway and intake gates controls
Troubleshooting, commissioning, inspection, and installation of electrical systems
Lead technical role working with on-site skilled trades
Design review and stamping of electrical design packages
Project estimating, developing, and presenting proposals
Condition assessment, performance monitoring, data analysis and preventative maintenance in hydroelectric generating stations
Leading multidisciplinary design teams
Managing projects and several concurrent mandates on schedule, and within budget
NERC reliability standards as they relate to the operation of Bulk Electric System assets
Committed to safe work practices and experience working with safe work procedures
Excellent communication and report writing skills
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
Total of 6 years of progressively responsible, difficult and highly complex electrical engineering experience in the Power Industry
Registration as a Professional Electrical Engineer in the State of Washington is required. If you are licensed in another state, you may obtain your Washington PE by exam or comity within 12 months of hire
Current Washington State Driver's License or evidence of equivalent mobility
Preferred
Experience working with hydroelectric generators, and associated Exciters, Governors, Relay Protection, Plant Controls and Automation is highly desired
Experience with and recognition of values associated with excellent customer service
Knowledge of and direct experience with NERC reliability standards as they relate to the operation of Bulk Electric System assets
Operations experience with remote generating facilities
Experience in legacy electrical systems and equipment
Good interpersonal, technical writing and oral communication skills
Proficient using AutoCAD to prepare Engineering Design Packages
