Senior Well Engineer Contractor
Ad Terra is an international geoscience & engineering consulting firm, and renewable energy operator striving to unlock Earth’s boundless energy potential responsibly. They are looking for a Senior Well Engineer to lead the planning and operational readiness of well delivery scopes, playing a critical role in pre-FID engineering studies and remote support of field operations across oil & gas and low-carbon energy projects.

Responsibilities
Lead pre-FID well engineering efforts, including well concept development, risk and cost assessments, and strategic input into field development plans
Develop, review, and own Basis of Design, casing design, well trajectory planning, and drilling/completion programs tailored to project objectives and subsurface conditions
Prepare and validate comprehensive execution documentation: drilling programs, time and cost estimates, bridging documents, and contingency plans
Provide strategic engineering support for rig and services procurement, including scope definition, bid evaluation, and technical clarifications
Interface closely with subsurface teams to ensure well designs are fit-for-purpose, operationally feasible, and aligned with reservoir access and field development strategy
Deliver real-time operational support to execution teams, troubleshoot challenges, and contribute to remote performance monitoring
Facilitate lessons learned reviews, operational debriefs, and design improvement workshops to drive value creation and operational excellence
Mentor junior well engineers when applicable, and support capability building within project teams
Apply conventional well engineering expertise to emerging energy sectors, such as geothermal and CCUS, in line with Ad Terra’s transition strategy
Qualification
Required
Master's degree (or higher) in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant discipline
12+ years of well engineering experience in operating environments, with solid exposure to both early-phase planning and field execution
Demonstrated leadership in well delivery planning, operational readiness, and multi-disciplinary project integration
Deep understanding of drilling engineering software and planning tools (e.g., WellPlan, Landmark EDM, Drillbench)
Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder engagement skills
Fluent in English (written and spoken)
Preferred
Familiarity with HPHT, geothermal, or unconventional operations is a plus
