Plans Examiner I
The University of Central Florida is seeking a Plans Examiner/Inspector at their main campus in Orlando. This position is responsible for performing code reviews and inspections in compliance with the Florida Building Code, ensuring that construction plans meet adopted standards.

Responsibilities
Review construction plans and specifications for compliance with currently adopted standards related to mechanical codes. Prepare written reports approving or rejecting plans in accordance with the adopted codes
Perform on-site construction inspections to ensure compliance with adopted codes, approved plans, and specifications; coordinate corrective actions, and conduct follow-up inspections. Record inspection results and plan review comments in permit tracking software
Maintain records of inspections, violations, and corrections. This position will develop a strong knowledge of campus facilities to enable a smooth and efficient plan review/inspection process
Represent the department in the area of expertise to various groups, such as architects and/or engineers, contractors, or subcontractors
Prepare written reports approving or rejecting construction plans in accordance with the adopted codes
Approve the installation of materials and methods for compliance with adopted codes
Represent the department in the area of expertise to various groups, such as architects and/or engineers, contractors, or subcontractors
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or Equivalent
4+ years of relevant work experience in construction, design or inspections of buildings as supervisor or contractor
Must possess minimum of 1 inspector license and 1 plans examiner license or receive an inspector Certification within 6 months of hire and full licensure (2 total) within one year of hire
Position requires a valid Class E driver's license
Preferred
Current DBPR licenses in Plan Review and Inspections
5 years of experience as a Licensed Inspector/Plans Examiner
Experience as a building inspector
Relevant work experience in construction, design, or building inspections as a supervisor or contractor
