Supervisory Visual Information Specialist

This position is located in the Exhibit Department, where the Supervisory Visual Information Specialist will lead the team in maintaining aesthetic standards for exhibits and overseeing design activities.

Responsibilities

Provide guidance on decisions related to aesthetically maintaining the entire campus environment, including galleries, exhibit areas, public-facing animal spaces, and both indoor and outdoor areas
Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and expenditure plans for general space planning and design projects
Supervise staff in collaboration with managers, curators, scriptwriters, educators, fabricators, and audiovisual developers to define and maintain aesthetic standards for exhibits
Provide strategic oversight of all contract design activities and act as the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR), ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance standards

Required

Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position
Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience in the actual type of work for which application is made
Experience in the oversight, planning, programming, design, and management of facilities, exhibits, gardens, horticultural displays, and animal care support areas
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal Service
