Responsibilities

Collaborate with suppliers and customers on product designs for the 3D metal Additive Manufacturing processes
Lead manufacturing feasibility studies on new AM applications
Research and resolve material, process, and part issues such as defect structure and porosity issues
Improve material properties such as fatigue resistance and porosity
Assist customers in designing products optimized for additive manufacturing
Apply machine vision, machine learning and other computational tools in the AM process
Assist with training internal employees on the applications of additive manufacturing
Explore and evaluate a wide variety of AM materials
Assist in operating the AM machine and processes
Work closely with quotations personnel to provide technical assistance
Ensure all engineering documentation for each job is completed properly

Required

Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Material Science Engineering
Must have experience in CAD, solid modeling software, and additive manufacturing
Knowledgeable in 3-D metals printing process, such as microstructure control, porosity, powder spreading, and melt pool geometry
Knowledgeable in 3-D part inspection and qualification process, machine learning and computer vision, and nondestructive evaluation
Knowledgeable in geometric design and optimization
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical processes
Able to work and communicate well with coworkers and customers at a professional level
Ability to work an adjusted schedule to support customer requirements

Preferred

Experience with Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS)
Knowledge and understanding of machine shop capabilities and inspection equipment
