Park Ranger (Events Compliance Monitor)
The National Mall and Memorial Parks is seeking a Park Ranger (Events Compliance Monitor) to ensure compliance with federal laws and regulations during events. The role involves monitoring permitted activities, providing technical assistance to event sponsors, and coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure safety and resource protection.

Responsibilities
Provide technical assistance and customer service to permits applicants, contractors, and the public by explaining special use regulations, guiding them through application procedures, and resolving routine inquiries or concerns
Review and process special use permits application, draft permit conditions, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure permitted activities comply with park policies, safety standards, and resource protection requirements
Monitor permitted events through site inspections and field presence to ensure compliance with permit terms, safety protocols, and environmental standards, document findings through written reports, and recommend corrective actions when necessary
Collaborate with interagency partners (e.g. US. Park Police, Secret Service, Metropolitan Police, Smithsonian) to coordinate logistics, public safety, and operational planning for permitted events, ensuring alignment with federal regulations and stakeholder expectations
Qualification
Required
You must provide official transcripts before you begin work
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements
You must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name
U.S. Citizenship required
Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication
Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males
Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program
Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements
You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties
You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards
You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work
As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience
To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the federal service
To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service
To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service
You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications
