Utilities Director
Lee County is seeking a visionary Director of Utilities to lead its dynamic water and wastewater systems in Southwest Florida. The role involves providing strategic vision, operational leadership, and driving innovation while ensuring resilient and customer-focused utility services for over 250,000 customers.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic vision and operational leadership for a full-service utilities department
Inspire and mentor a high-performing, service-driven team
Drive innovation and efficiency across all divisions; from field operations to long-term planning
Strengthen collaboration with county leadership, commissioners, and community partners
Lead major infrastructure and capital improvement projects that will define the region’s growth
Ensure resilience, compliance, and excellence in all aspects of utility service delivery
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Public Administration, Environmental Science, Business, or a related field
5+ years of progressively responsible experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role
Expertise in budgeting, fiscal management, and regulatory compliance
Deep understanding of the water and wastewater industry and local government operations
A people-first leadership style that builds trust, engagement, and excellence across teams
