Salt Lake Community College is Utah’s largest open-access college in the state, and they are seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to teach college level math courses to career/technical and college transfer students. The role involves preparing and delivering lectures, maintaining classroom records, and supporting student learning and assessment initiatives.

Responsibilities

Ability to implement successful pedagogical strategies for the teaching and learning of mathematics
Follows the course curriculum outline, prepares and delivers lectures and other classroom activities
Keeps accurate classroom records
Coordinates Student ADA accommodation requests following college policy and procedures
Answer student questions and provide necessary feedback on student progress
Supports department assessment initiatives
Meets College and department deadlines and evaluates student work in a timely manner including submitting final grades on time
Completes all required trainings
Demonstrate and supports professional commitment to division, school, and college mission and values
Follows SLCC policies and procedures
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, culture, ethnic background, and abilities, to maintain good working relationships across the College
Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities
Become familiar with, and abide by, all college policies with immediate priority given to those policies that govern interactions with colleagues, staff, administrators, and departments throughout the organization
Maintain professional etiquette in communications with students, staff, faculty, and administrators
Provides appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments
Returns graded assignments in a timely fashion per department standards
Maintains student attendance records (for Financial Aid purposes) and grades
Conducts a variety of appropriate evaluations of student performance. Informs students of progress to date periodically and assigns and submits grades by published deadlines
Assists in maintaining a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment
Follows and abides by the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy
Handles/responds to student concerns/complaints and responds to student communications and inquiries promptly (generally within 1-2 days)
Maintains professional appearance as defined by the discipline and/or College procedure
Completes all required employee trainings
Knows and enforces FERPA guidelines
Administer ADA accommodations as needed

Required

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States
All employees are expected to maintain a permanent residence within the State of Utah as a condition of employment
New employees must provide a valid Utah residential address within 30 days of their start date
Masters' degree in mathematics, or
Masters' degree in a closely related area with 18 graduate semester hours in mathematics

All Faculty will maintain an on-site campus presence to encourage in-person relationships and create engaging, meaningful, and impactful learning experiences unless approved for on-line only courses
You are employed as an Adjunct Faculty member/ Instructor on a contract-to-contract basis, with no future expectation or obligation for employment
Your employment may be terminated At Will at any time
You are required to maintain professional boundaries with all SLCC students
