VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR

USAJOBS is seeking a Vehicle Maintenance and Operations Supervisor. The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate supervisors and workers in accomplishing trades and labor work of the Vehicle Management Flight.

Responsibilities

Performs work planning responsibilities for the Vehicle Management Flight. Plans on a quarterly or longer basis the overall use of personnel and other resources in two or more separate organizational segments or groups controlled through one or more levels of supervision
Performs work direction responsibilities. Assigns and explains work requirements and operating instructions to subordinate supervisors and sets deadlines and establishes the sequence of work operations to be followed
Performs administration responsibilities. Participates with subordinate supervisors/employees in the development of performance plans. Advises them in advance of performance expectations

Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft
Duties may require occasional work in a vehicle maintenance or operations shop
Key Position: The duties of this position meet all requirements as a category 4 designation and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or office to function effectively
This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and cannot become a member of the Ready Reserve. (IAW: DoDD 1200.7, "Screening the Ready Reserve")
This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions
Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5800 Transportation/Mobile Equipment Maintenance Family
The screen out element for this position is the ability to lead and supervise
Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of automotive mechanic, heavy mobile equipment mechanic, and motor vehicle operating supervision and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/ Equal Employment Treatment
Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications
Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission
Ability to manage overall direction and coordination of subordinate work activities and functions and implement sound personnel policies, practices, and procedures through one or more levels of subordinate supervisors
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
