Mechanical Process Design Engineer

Responsibilities
Work with Team Lead, Project Engineers, Quality Assurance, and Procurement within the project to develop technical specifications, statements of work and drawing packages detailing the requirements to establish external standards for suppliers and vendors
Develop and evaluate plans and criteria with peer Engineers for projects and activities to be carried out
Coordinate and execute collaborative team meetings with domestic and foreign diagnostic counterparts to report status and develop actions to push joint progress
Perform technical review of fabrication documents and drawings, technical specifications, material certificates, and calculations
Prepare and give presentations for meetings of technical scope and progress
Determine applicability and appropriateness of requirements and internal controls
Work with Team Lead to schedule and assign work to meet completion deadlines on assigned projects
Prepare documentation (manufacturing plans and dossiers)
Evaluate fabrication deviation requests and non-conformances from industrial suppliers
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical or nuclear engineering
Minimum of 7–15 years of relevant technical and project management experience with the design and manufacturing of complex structures and integrated systems, including hands-on experience with the design, fabrication, commissioning, startup, and operation of process equipment
Experience setting and achieving project goals, utilizing project management tools to support execution of project scope, and experience interfacing with vendors and fabricators
CAD and P&ID experience are required
Experience with facility design, construction, and operation is required, along with direct involvement in commissioning and startup activities for engineered process equipment
Ability to work with a diverse group of researchers, engineers, and technicians; domestic and international
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory
Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs
Successful drug screening
Preferred
A master's degree in mechanical, chemical or nuclear engineering
Familiarity with mechanical and/or chemical engineering principles, especially in the areas of equipment and system design, fabrication, installation, assembly, and operation, with adherence to all relevant safety and manufacturing process standards
In-depth knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards related to mechanical and/or process engineering designs
Understanding of manufacturing facility layout and design, including experience with lean manufacturing methodologies
Experience working with 2D and 3D engineering and manufacturing software tools, such as ProE
Skilled in the use of AutoCAD, Revit, Carrier HAP, Trace 700, or comparable design and simulation programs
