Certified IT Administrator (LAN/WAN) Level II
The City of New York is seeking a Certified IT Administrator to join their IT Network and Telecommunications unit. The individual will support 750 users, focusing on the configuration, support, maintenance, and upgrade of Corporate Network components and will work collaboratively with IT and Information Security staff.

Responsibilities
Support 750 users in two locations
Configuration, support, maintenance, and upgrade of Corporate Network components
Engineer, design, and/or implement strategic and tactical solutions to business problems
Develop automation scripts to carry out routine tasks
Coordinate deployments across NYCERS Systems
Review technical LAN/WAN documentation
Record installation and configuration processes and procedures
Identify, diagnose, and resolve service tickets via phone, email, and in person
Handle escalations from other IT Division staff
Troubleshoot problems and research solutions independently
Interface with vendor partners
Work overtime upon request
Qualification
Required
Professional/vendor certification(s) in local area network administration that is required for the position to be filled
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and two years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) experience in local area network and/or wide area network planning, design, configuration, installation, implementation, troubleshooting, integration, performance monitoring, maintenance, enhancement, and security management
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) information technology experience of which at least 2 years must have been as described in '1'
A satisfactory equivalent of education and/or experience equivalent to '1' or '2' above
At least one year of satisfactory (not classroom based) full-time information technology experience as described in '1'
Minimum of five (5) years of experience working on an IT Infrastructure team
Experience in the configuration, support, maintenance, and upgrade of Corporate Network components, including VLAN subnetting, VSS and VPC configurations, IPSEC VPN tunnels (both remote and site-to-site), wireless networking, DHCP/DNS, and Firewall administration
Proficient in technologies such as Cisco Nexus 9K, Cisco MDS Fiber Switches, Zoning, Cisco Catalyst Switches, EtherChannel, HSRP, EIGRP and BGP Routing protocols, Cisco Firepower FMC and FTD, Cisco Meraki AP Wireless Network components, Citrix NetScaler Load Balancer, Cisco UCS, Fiber Interconnects, Cisco ISE and CSW, Cisco ThousandEyes cloud monitoring, Azure Portal Networking
Ability to engineer, design, and/or implement strategic and tactical solutions to business problems
Ability to develop automation scripts to carry out routine tasks
Ability to coordinate deployments across NYCERS Systems
Ability to periodically review technical LAN/WAN documentation and clearly record installation and configuration processes and procedures
Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a collaborative environment with other IT and Information Security staff
Ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve service tickets via phone, email, and in person
Ability to handle escalations from other IT Division staff
Ability to troubleshoot problems and research solutions independently
Ability to regularly interface with vendor partners
Willingness to work overtime upon request
Preferred
Experience with ServiceNow, Cisco UCM VoIP, and Microsoft Teams phone is a plus
Experience supporting a Dell/EMC Powermax SAN array is also a plus
Excellent customer service and communication skills (both oral and written)
Evidence of any professional certifications
