Senior Manager, Civil Engineering
LA28 is the independent organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Senior Manager, Civil Engineering will oversee civil engineering works for temporary and permanent infrastructure, manage engineering resources, and ensure compliance with industry codes and IOC requirements.

Responsibilities
Lead civil engineering technical design and development, including oversight of temporary infrastructure and overlay designs, including space allocations, grading, pathways, etc
Develop technical engineering design guides and principles and adapt IOC requirements to local practices
Prepare and support other engineering analysis as needed to support development works, including site surveys, crowd modeling, area feasibility studies, etc
Prepare and oversee the civil engineering portion of the venue design books and technical publications. Advance engineering designs through increasing levels of detail for construction drawings
Manage internal team and oversee external resources to deliver on workstream responsibilities
Coordinate internal and external stakeholders’ requirements to develop cost effective and streamlined solutions to meet games time requirements for each venue
Manage and develop review process for plans to meet departmental milestones
Integrate and influence venue design to allow for efficient engineering solutions
Support the development of integrated workplans and schedules with the infrastructure master schedule, event operations planning, and central Program Management
Oversee an installation team during operations and maintenance during the event period
Represent LA28 and the VNI Engineering team in meetings and at events with stakeholders
Support infrastructure requirements for Broadcast, Energy, Technology, and Look and Sign, amongst other stakeholders
Support the development of integrated workplans and schedules with the infrastructure master schedule, event operations planning, and central Program Management
Partner with Finance and Procurement teams to prepare costs, elevate delivery and procurement risks, and identify savings opportunities
Support other cross-functional initiatives, including Permitting, Risk Management, and Event Operations
Ensure compliance within workstream to Health & Safety regulations
Qualification
Required
7+ years of civil or equivalent engineering experience with large infrastructure design and construction
Experience with temporary infrastructure and overlay, or equivalent experience with major infrastructure capital programs
Experience leading diverse teams delivering complex, high-profile infrastructure projects
Advanced knowledge of engineering and collaboration tools and software (Revit, AutoCAD, etc.)
Detail-oriented with excellent command of productivity and collaboration tools (Office360, SharePoint, Smartsheet, Autodesk Cloud, etc.)
Experience with key of industry codes and practices
Knowledge of key civil works construction activities, including site preparation, grading, and remediation
Knowledge with fundamental project management concepts (scope, schedule, budget)
Demonstrated commitment to co-creation and collaborative decision-making
Required – Accredited Bachelors in Civil Engineering or equivalent
Preferred
Preferred experience with local or major sporting events (Olympics & Paralympic Games, World Cup, etc.)
Desired – Professional Engineering license in California
Desired – Project Management and Construction Certifications
