Director of ADA Compliance

Responsibilities
Serve as the University's ADA/Section 504 Coordinator for students, employees, and visitors, ensuring compliance with federal and state disability laws and institutional policies
Lead and coordinate institutional planning and initiatives to ensure the accessibility of programs, services, facilities, and digital environments
Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of disability-related policies, procedures, and accommodation processes to promote equal access and compliance
Collaborate with faculty, Human Resources, Student Affairs, Facilities, and IT to resolve accessibility barriers, provide guidance on reasonable accommodations, and promote universal design principles
Drive the University's digital accessibility strategy, leading improvement efforts for key digital assets, participating on related committees, and ensuring adherence to WCAG, Section 508, and other applicable standards
Conduct and coordinate accessibility assessments of physical and digital environments, recommend corrective actions, and track institutional progress toward compliance goals
Maintain centralized records of ADA/504 complaints, accommodations, grievances, and resolutions in accordance with confidentiality and legal requirements; ensure prompt and equitable resolution of disability-related complaints and appeals
Provide training, education, and outreach to the campus community on disability inclusion, accessibility best practices, and legal obligations under the ADA and Section 504
Be the institution's subject matter expert on current and emerging accessibility standards, agency guidance, and relevant case law affecting higher education
Provide consultative services to departments and offices on disability-related matters and support institution-wide efforts to monitor, assess, and improve accessibility outcomes
Be the subject matter expert on institutional nondiscrimination and equity principles, providing guidance on accessibility-related equity concerns and contributing to campuswide efforts to improve inclusive practices
Provide strategic leadership in developing, evaluating, and strengthening institutional practices related to ADA and equity, and nondiscrimination, ensuring alignment with the University's federated compliance program
Contribute to the development, implementation, and monitoring of institutional compliance initiatives, risk assessments, and reporting processes
Conduct routine audits, accessibility assessments, and process evaluations related to ADA/504 compliance, identifying barriers, monitoring progress, and recommending corrective actions to advance equal access
Develop and maintain data dashboards and reporting metrics to track accommodation trends, accessibility initiatives, grievance activity, and compliance outcomes, providing regular updates to institutional leadership
Collaborate with the VP for Compliance and other compliance partners to align ADA/504, Title IX, and equity practices with broader institutional compliance standards
Assist in maintaining compliance updates to the General Counsel/Compliance webpage and communication plan(s) to provide resources and updates related to ADA/504 compliance
Serve as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator and acting in the absence of the Title IX Coordinator to cover related duties, maintaining continuity of response, documentation, and communication with key stakeholders
Serve as a member of the Title IX Team, prepared to fill roles that may include advisor, investigator, or adjudicator for Title IX and sexual misconduct or other equity claims and processes, ensuring fairness, neutrality, and adherence to institutional procedures
Provide and receive cross-training with the Director of Title IX and Equity to ensure mutual understanding of case management systems, processes, and reporting requirements across Title IX, equity, and disability claims
Participate in policy review and updates to ensure alignment across accessibility, nondiscrimination, and harassment prevention frameworks
Qualification
Required
4 + Years of experience
Bachelor's Degree in related field
Broad knowledge of ADA/504 Compliance in the higher education setting
Familiarity with digital accessibility principles and tools (e.g., WCAG standards, accessible document and web practices)
Advanced Microsoft Office Skills
Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment
Proven Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse population
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
While maintaining a high attention to detail, ability to understand the scope of the position within the context of the larger organization
Ability to think critically and demonstrate initiative
