Congressional Analyst

Responsibilities

Record and respond to inquiries from members of Congress and other Government offices
Establish and maintain contacts with Congressional staff and relevant offices within DoD, Army, the Air Force, and the States and Territories

Required

Strong knowledge of the legislative process, congressional procedures, and defense policy
Excellent analytical, research, and critical-thinking skills
Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with experience drafting reports and briefings
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Bachelor's degree from an accredited US based university
Minimum 3 years of experience with analyzing and responding to congressional inquiries
Minimum 3 years of experience working with the NGB or equivalent other Service Headquarters or DoD level
Must have experience with/understanding of the following: The congressional budget and appropriations process, Analyzing appropriations tables and justification books, Tracking the annual National Defense Authorization Act, Appropriations Act, and Military Construction appropriations, Understanding congressional committee processes and procedures, DoD policy development, program process, and program execution, DoD legislative and ULB process
Secret security clearance required

Preferred

Prior military service (National Guard or Reserves preferred)
Experience working on Capitol Hill, with a federal agency, or in a legislative affairs role
