BDO is seeking an Interim Tax Manager to provide leadership and oversight of tax operations on a contract basis. This role ensures compliance with tax regulations, manages tax planning and preparation activities, and implements process improvements for efficiency and accuracy.

Responsibilities

Manages preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns
Oversees tax planning and compliance activities
Conducts tax research and analysis to support organizational decision-making
Ensures compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations
Coordinates and supports tax audits and responses to tax authorities
Prepares and reviews tax provisions and related financial statement disclosures
Identifies and implements process improvements to enhance tax efficiency and accuracy
Maintains accurate tax records and documentation
Communicates tax information and recommendations to organizational leadership
Supports transition and training for incoming tax leadership
Other duties as required

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Five (5) or more years of progressive tax experience
Two (2) or more years in a tax management role
CPA
Proficiency in tax preparation and research software (e.g., CCH Axcess, Thomson Reuters, GoSystem)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to adapt quickly to changing organizational needs and environments
Demonstrates professionalism and integrity in all interactions
Knowledge of current tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements

Preferred

Master's degree in Taxation or Accounting
Experience in public accounting or professional services
Experience with interim or contract tax assignments
