Responsibilities

Communicates appropriately and clearly to charge nurse, coworkers, and physicians. Consults other departments, as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patients’ needs
Collaborates with administrative assistant with ordering supplies. Assists in cost containment through appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment
Interacts professionally with patients and their families and provides explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary. Maintains age specific safety precautions
Obtains appropriate nursing staff to assist physicians in the care of the patient
Answer’s telephone and intercom in a polite manner and communicates information to the appropriate personnel or family
Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly
Participates in performance improvement activities
Maintains compliance with all regulatory requirements, nursing and hospital policies and procedures and standards, including infection control, safety regulations and guidelines
Manages inventory of Voalte phones, chargers and iPads
Ensures that all patient calls and call lights are answered in a timely manner, triage calls or patient requests to the appropriate person, or escalate to the charge nurse, if necessary
Attends all required CSMDRH education sessions
Maintains a clean and organized workstation at all times
Maintains patient confidentiality at all times

Required

Effective communication and customer service skills with patients, family members, physicians and other Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey hospital departments
Ability to implement instructions from physicians and nursing staff
Ability to perform a variety of administrative activities or tasks specific to the unit needs
Professional interaction with patients and their families, providing explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary
Ability to maintain age specific safety precautions
Ability to obtain appropriate nursing staff to assist physicians in the care of the patient
Polite telephone and intercom communication skills
Ability to manage and operate equipment safely and correctly
Participation in performance improvement activities
