INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC/NETWORK)

Responsibilities
You will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and ensuring information assurance (cybersecurity) and information system security guidelines are implemented
You will update all lnformation Systems managed by Marine Corps University (MCU) system accreditation and Risk Management Framework (RMF) packets with supporting documents
You will be responsible for scanning of all unclassified servers, devices, and workstations on the networks to validate compliance in accordance with the Information Assurance Vulnerability Management program
You will manage specialty filters, sensors and/or devices (both network and host based) designed to monitor and/or counter specific threats
You will provide technical guidance, expertise, and support on Cybersecurity to leadership for all networks that comprise a variety of data communication and computing devices
Qualification
Required
Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases
You will be required to obtain and maintain a current IAT level II Certification within 6 months of occupying the position
You are required to have information technology (IT) related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving
In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector monitoring and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data
