Postdoctoral Research Associate - Chirality-driven Quantum States

Responsibilities

Transport and scattering characterizations of correlated and topological materials
Physical property characterizations
Experience with user facilities
Data analysis of structural, electronic, magnetic, and topological properties
Work with others to maintain a high level of scientific productivity
Publish scientific papers in key journals and present at key meetings
Ensure compliance with environment, safety, health, and quality program requirements
Maintain a strong commitment to the implementation and perpetuation of values and ethics
Deliver ORNL’s mission by aligning behaviors, priorities, and interactions with our core values of Impact, Integrity, Teamwork, Safety, and Service

Qualification

Required

A PhD in condensed matter physics, materials science and engineering, or a closely related field completed within the last five years
Excellent track record in the physics of correlated materials or topological materials
Expertise in transport measurements and device fabrication or neutron/photon scattering and material's synthesis

Preferred

Proficiency with scripting or programmatic languages, such as Python, Igor, and labview
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory
Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever-changing needs
