FT - Accounting-Asst Professor/Program Coordinator
Shaw University is seeking an Assistant Professor in Business Administration with a focus on Accounting. The role involves teaching undergraduate accounting courses, advising students, conducting research, and participating in curriculum development and program coordination.

Responsibilities
Teaching all levels of undergraduate accounting (teaching load is up to 12 credit hours per semester; may have release time to conduct research or other duties)
Maintaining professional scholarship
Effectively advising students through matriculation, including sharing academic and student resource information when applicable
Maintaining scheduled office hours and ensuring posting of hours is available for students
Effectively managing the classroom environment
Developing, maintaining, and submitting accurate, timely and complete records (attendance, assignments, grades, end of course notebooks, etc.)
Conducting research (suitable for an academic or professional audience)
Participating in course and curriculum development, mentoring part-time faculty and students, as well as providing service to the School and the University
Serving the School, the University, and the profession and community as appropriate
Regularly organizes, schedules and documents collaboration meetings with other program colleagues
Discusses matters related to the students in the applicable program
Assesses and reviews the needs of the program (faculty, supplies, instrumentation, etc.)
Makes program curriculum revisions and recommendations aimed to address current market trends
Coordinates activities with colleagues to enhance teaching and the learning process
Acts as the primary faculty academic advisor for the students in the program
Disseminates information to students relating to internships and job opportunities, research, seminars, graduate schools, supporting programs, tutoring, etc
Composes an annual strategic plan and an assessment plan for the applicable academic program
Submits an annual assessment report
Serves as an advisor for New Student Orientation and summer programs, as needed
Assures submission of book orders for all relevant program courses
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in accounting or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning; Ph.D./DBA preferred
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Demonstrated understanding and strong commitment to cultural diversity
Must possess the minimum credential standards of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), which normally includes at least 18 graduate semester credit hours in the subject area or suitable approved justifications
Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours/day
Some lifting (up to 25 pounds occasionally), bending, and carrying
Specific vision abilities include the ability to use close vision
The employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and to use hands and fingers to handle or feel
Preferred
Teaching experience preferred
Experience with publishing and/or presenting research preferred
