Accounting Technician 3 - AR - Payroll
Alaska SeaLife Center is responsible for various accounting support functions and is seeking an Accounting Technician 3. This role involves processing payroll, maintaining accounting records, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies.

Responsibilities
Processes bi-weekly payroll and maintains payroll filing system. Performs updates for all changes to payroll, leave accrual and payroll deductions and maintains related documentation
Prepares payroll tax documents such as W-2s & W-3 annually and 941s quarterly
Prepares quarterly workers compensation and unemployment reporting and assists in preparing documentation for the annual workers compensation audit
Processes ACH payments for payroll and non-payroll purposes
Processes all cash, check, and credit card revenues and maintains cash on hand
Reconciles accounts receivable (A/R) general ledger accounts on a monthly basis
Responsibility for the daily entry of Gate Revenue and ALTRU entries into the Accounting System
Maintains and improves A/R filing systems and associated spreadsheets. Produces monthly A/R invoices and statements. Serves as a contact person for A/R clients and their account activity. Contacts A/R clients to resolve delinquent payments
Performs weekly drawdown of federal grant funds from ASAP
Prepares documents for the annual financial statement and A-133 federal audits
Monitors compliance with established accounting policies and procedures. Assists in editing and updating policies and procedure documents
Assists with general administrative items related to A/R, payroll, and finance functions. Provides assistance to the Accounting Manager, as required
Updates all Timesheets and Payroll Date documents for publication
Recommends process and transactional improvements for payroll and A/R functions
Cross-trains and supports vacationing accounting staff when needed
Fosters good relations with visitors, volunteers, community leaders, contractors, vendors, clients, and fellow staff members by promoting positive attitudes, goodwill, cooperation, and providing high standards of service
Complies with all Alaska SeaLife Center policies, procedures, and programs
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
A vocational certificate or Associate's degree in a related field with a minimum of six years' experience in a similar position, a Bachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum of four years' experience in a similar position, or the equivalent is required
Accounting knowledge and payroll experience are required
Must possess advanced skills in time management, organization, prioritization, customer service, attention to detail, and oral and written communication
Must have the ability to present information to non-financial groups, work with diverse individuals, work independently, and interact effectively with staff, senior management, and outside organizations
Skill in written and verbal communication
Skills in Word and Excel for word processing, data analysis, and report creation
Preferred
Experience giving public presentations and/or working with various age groups in an educational setting
Ability to understand and interpret research in progress and marine science topics
