Assistant Professor - Mechanical Metamaterials
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Mechanical & Materials Engineering. The successful candidate will develop a research program focused on dynamics, vibrations, and acoustics, particularly in mechanical metamaterials, and will have opportunities for collaboration across various research centers.

Responsibilities
Develop a world-renowned research program in the general areas of dynamics, vibrations and acoustics with an emphasis on mechanical metamaterials and metastructures
Leverage AI/ML in a principled way and/or involve autonomous labs for design, discovery, and characterization
Contribute to mechanical engineering undergraduate and graduate degree programs
Qualification
Required
Ph.D. or equivalent in mechanical engineering or a closely related field
Potential to establish a strong externally funded research program in dynamics, vibrations and/or acoustics, with an emphasis on mechanical metamaterials and metastructures
Preferred
A record of strong scholarly achievement
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, with the expertise to contribute to mechanical engineering undergraduate and graduate degree programs
Principled integration of AI/ML into the research program
