Administrative Intern III (Community Development)

NEOGOV is seeking current or recently graduated students for an Administrative Intern III position in the City of Carson’s Community Development Department. Responsibilities

Performs research, compiles data and prepares reports related to administrative and operational matters
Conducts surveys and studies and makes recommendations based on findings
Assists with file maintenance, data entry and generates reports using a variety of computer software programs
Prepares written correspondence
Participates in the preparation and revision of brochures and other administrative materials
Works with other professional employees assigned to special work projects
Provides information to and consults with staff and the public
Operates a variety of office machines, including a personal computer
Attends meetings or events in the evening or on weekends
May drive to different locations to perform work, site inspections/surveys or attend meetings within and outside the City
Performs related duties as required

Required

Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor's degree in Economics, Environmental Studies, Political Science, or Finance
Foundational understanding of urban planning principles
Self-motivated and eager to learn
Demonstrating initiative and a strong desire to contribute meaningfully to community development projects
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Able to manage tasks effectively and support project goals
Must be enrolled in a college or university as a senior or graduate student or must have graduated from a 4-year college program within the last six months
Equivalent of 6 months full-time administrative, para-professional, technical or advanced clerical work experience
Knowledge of modern English usage
Knowledge of mathematics, including statistics
Knowledge of research and analytical methods
Knowledge of personal computers and related software applications
Knowledge of methods of report presentation
Skill to compile, review and evaluate data
Skill to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Skill to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
Skill to learn City organization, operations, policies and objectives
Skill to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Skill to deal tactfully with the public
