TRIO Assistant Director

The Colorado Department of Revenue is responsible for overseeing the TRIO Educational Opportunity Center, which assists low-income and first-generation college students in accessing higher education. The TRIO Assistant Director will manage multiple EOC offices, supervise staff, and provide outreach services to participants while ensuring compliance with federal guidelines.

Responsibilities

Provide in-person services to program participants including, providing information about college, and careers; assistance in applying for college admissions, student financial aid and scholarships; referrals to college readiness and GED programs and community agencies
Perform client intakes, determine eligibility, select participants, assess services needed to achieve educational goals, and develop participant service plan
Direct supervision of employees supporting Pueblo, Trinidad, La Junta/Lamar, Colorado Springs and Fort Carson sites, including evaluating performance, facilitating staff meetings, and training
Assist Director with operational management of programs and special projects
Assist with the management of the EOC Central Office. This includes coordination with offices on campus, responding to inquiries, scheduling appointments and supervision of student employees
Plan and implement community outreach in assigned service area. This includes individual and group meetings, representing the program at events, and conducting workshops for potential participants, parents and staff members of community organizations, secondary and post-secondary institutions
Assist Director in APR preparation and completion: Enter information about participants and services provided into database and maintain filing system for all participant files, ensuring files are complete and in order
Track participant progress in completing critical tasks identified in the participant service plan, including enrollment of participants in postsecondary education
Attend professional development conferences and training
Other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree from accredited institution
Valid and unrestricted driver's license
Ability to travel to target schools and transport students in 15-passenger van
Effective written communication skills
Proficient in using MS Office software and social media
Experience working with first generation and low-income students in an educational environment
Experience working in a TRIO program
Experience working with a budget and completing annual performance reviews (APRs)
Experience in a position requiring relationship building and mentoring students
Experience in a position or activity that required effective verbal and intercultural communication skills

Preferred

Master's degree
Familiarity with CSU Pueblo's business processes and resource management systems (Kuali, AIS)
Enthusiasm to promote CSU Pueblo's commitment to students
Bilingual in Spanish/English
Experience in office operations and managing budgets
Two or more years of professional experience related to college admissions, advising, and/or financial aid
Experience coordinating and planning educational programs and activities for youth or families
Experience supporting first generation and low income participants in a student-support program
Supervisory experience
