Responsibilities

Providing technical leadership and supervision for subordinate employees to ensure the timely completion of assigned tasks and projects
Monitoring the daily activities of the cybersecurity program to ensure the timely implementation of the technical, operational, and managerial controls needed to protect the information technology infrastructure and systems of the component
Tracking audit findings and recommendations to ensure that appropriate mitigation actions are taken, conducting independent comprehensive assessments of the management, operational and technical security controls and control enhancements employed within or inherited by an IT system to determine the overall effectiveness of the controls
Ensuring the collection of information from a variety of sources to monitor network activity and analyze behavior to identify and report events that occur or might occur within the network to protect information, information systems, and networks from threats

You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position
Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service
You must successfully pass a background investigation for a Top Secret/SCI
Current federal employees within the General Schedule (GS) must meet the time-in-grade requirements outlined in the 'Qualifications' section of this announcement
This is a non-bargaining unit position
Must possess and maintain a valid state issued driver's license to conduct official government business
You will need to set up direct deposit so we can pay you
Complete the initial online assessment and USAHire Assessment, if required
Occasional travel may be required
This position is eligible for situational-only telework based on agency policy
Overtime may be required
Required to complete an OGE 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, within 30 days of starting your federal employment and annually thereafter as long as you occupy a position that requires financial disclosure reporting
You must be a current Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employee serving under a career or career-conditional appointment in the competitive service. You must submit an SF-50 that shows you currently work for DHS
Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate
For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the five competencies listed below

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations
Oral Communication - Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information

You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as: 1) Providing technical leadership and supervision for subordinate employees to ensure the timely completion of assigned tasks and projects, 2) Monitoring the daily activities of the cybersecurity program to ensure the timely implementation of the technical, operational, and managerial controls needed to protect the information technology infrastructure and systems of the component 3) Tracking audit findings and recommendations to ensure that appropriate mitigation actions are taken, conducting independent comprehensive assessments of the management, operational and technical security controls and control enhancements employed within or inherited by an IT system to determine the overall effectiveness of the controls, 4) Ensuring the collection of information from a variety of sources to monitor network activity and analyze behavior to identify and report events that occur or might occur within the network to protect information, information systems, and networks from threats
