Responsibilities

Lead a team of underwriters and assistant underwriters by fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and underwriting discipline
Develop and execute strategies to achieve premium and revenue targets, maximize profitability, and manage expenses
Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate individual and team performance
Attract, retain, and develop top talent through coaching, mentorship, and career development opportunities
Manage performance reviews, conduct regular one-on-one meetings, and document performance discussions
Ensure underwriting quality, pricing accuracy, and risk assessment meet the highest standards across all programs and lines of business
Approve underwriting transactions within authority, providing documentation and analysis to support decisions
Evaluate insurance risks to determine eligibility, pricing, and acceptance in accordance with guidelines
Maintain strong relationships with program carriers and coordinate carrier underwriting audits
Build cross-functional partnerships with distribution, client solutions, operations, and IT to support business goals
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies, proactively identifying and mitigating risks
Oversee internal underwriting audits and manage audit processes between scheduled carrier reviews
Drive team engagement by modeling a positive, adaptable attitude and promoting a cohesive work environment

Required

Four-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
5-10 years' experience working in a P&C Commercial Lines insurance environment
Successful history consistently setting clear direction by defining goals and priorities
Ability to act in a decisive manner to achieve appropriate results
Demonstrate organizational skills while working on multiple projects
Ability to make decisions in compliance with Lockton Affinity's standards of quality, performance, and service
