Halo Land Management partners with leading energy companies to support critical oil and gas development. As a Land Agent, you will be the frontline connection between Halo, clients, and landowners, responsible for negotiating oil and gas leases and documenting all activity with precision.
Responsibilities
Contact landowners through phone, email, letters, and in person visits to discuss lease opportunities and project needs
Explain lease terms, answer questions, and handle objections in a clear, professional manner
Negotiate lease terms within approved authority and escalate redlines or nonstandard requests for review
Build rapport with a wide range of landowners, including elderly or high profile individuals, and maintain patience and professionalism at all times
Coordinate attorney or representative interactions where needed and provide context to project leadership
Maintain accurate negotiator notes for every contact, including date, method of contact, and outcome
Correctly request leases and related documents, including LPRs and ARFs, with complete and accurate information
Track and update the status of leases and tracts in project systems and trackers
Use accuracy trackers and quality reports to continually improve, reduce errors, and avoid repeated issues
Ensure all lease forms, riders, and related documents follow current project standards and approvals
Conduct field visits when needed to meet landowners, deliver documents, and support recording or execution
Represent Halo professionally in appearance, communication, and conduct during all in person interactions
Coordinate with team members to cover field and remote needs based on project structure
Communicate consistently with project managers, coordinators, and admins on status, blockers, and upcoming needs
Share best practices and lessons learned with peers and support a culture of continuous improvement
Step in to help teammates when possible and maintain a team first mindset, even as an independent contractor when applicable
Qualification
Required
Commissioned field notary in Ohio, or ability and willingness to obtain within a defined timeframe
1-3 of experience in land, oil and gas, right of way, real estate, or a closely related field
Working knowledge of basic land concepts such as township and section and general understanding of lease structures
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including clear notes and professional email etiquette
General technical proficiency and comfort with email, spreadsheets, and web based CRM or project systems
Reliable transportation for local field visits when required
