Responsibilities

Prepare and deliver high quality instruction and facilitate the learning of students
Develop appropriate course syllabi and instructional plans, and organize daily classes utilizing a variety of creative/innovative techniques
Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student records, maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, equipment security where applicable, and ensure opportunities for student/participant evaluation
Performs student advisement such that students are provided with timely, accurate, and comprehensive information
Collaborate with the Office of Student Success to ensure students receive current information on tutoring and other programs designed to increase retention
Participate in related tours and recruitment events
Assist in department/program planning for recruitment
Demonstrates a willingness to be of service and exhibits pleasant and courteous behavior toward customers (students, parents, employers, and media), organizational coworkers, and other general public contacts
Maintains flexibility, including availability for evening, weekend, or summer assignment, as appropriate; able to work effectively in a team environment; commitment to the mission, vision and values of the college
Deliver high quality instruction and facilitate the learning of students
Organize daily classes utilizing a variety of creative/innovative techniques
Tailor teaching methods to diverse learning styles and needs
Understanding and empathizing with student experiences
Providing personalized guidance and support
Articulating ideas clearly and fostering open communication
Creating and utilizing assessments to provide constructive feedback and guide learning

Required

Effective in teaching and delivering high quality instruction
Possess knowledge of the curriculum with documented experience in various surgical specialties; experience with the use of technology (i.e. robotics) used in the operating room
Effective organization and time management, effective communication and teamwork
Provides demonstration of perioperative patient care through selection, inspection, and opening of surgical supplies and equipment in timely manner according to age specific concerns for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults and physician's preference list
Demonstrated, Creates and maintains sterile field with essential surgical supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure in timely, functional, and organized manner
Performs sponge, sharps, and formal and inventory instrument counts at proper count intervals according to hospital policy and procedures
Performs surgical hand scrubs and gowns and gloves self and others
Cleans and prepares surgical instruments for terminal sterilization
Completes written lab and clinical performance evaluation form in timely manner of students
Certified Surgical Technologist, BLS certification
Demonstrate competency with use of technology that supports learning and teaching; Maintains a flexible schedule, including availability for evening, weekend, or summer assignment, as appropriate
Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology, graduate from a program accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency (ARC/STSA accreditation requirement)
Have a minimum of two years experience in the OR scrub role or as an instructor in Surgical Technology

Preferred

Preferred prior Teaching experience in the surgical technology field
Bachelor's degree in allied health
Minimum of (5) years of experience in the operating room
Ability to lecture on content regarding various surgical procedures
Organize and prioritize perioperative tasks based on identified need
Demonstrates competency to operate surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment
Demonstrates proficiency and independence
Demonstrates Passing of surgical instruments and anticipates surgeon's needs during surgical procedure during student lab experiences
Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician as authorized by the CBSPD/IAHCSMM
