Responsibilities
Lead of the engineering team. You assign the jobs, monitor the progress, and make sure the work gets done right and on time
Mentor technical staff. You’ll train younger engineers and designers, helping them grow their skills so they don’t make the same mistake twice
When a vendor drops the ball, you handle it
When a machine goes down or a part isn't running to spec, you are the technical lead on non-conformances, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
Your team defines the routing for new components from the initial print to the final part. You’ll be hands-on with the documentation: creating routings in ERP, making 3D models from customer drawings, and handling the prints
You’ll stay up-to-date and involved with metallurgy, 3rd-party heat treating, and complex specs, finishes/coatings, etc
Qualification
Required
Hands-on technical leader
Experience in complex power transmission products
Ability to fix complex machining issues
Experience mentoring technical staff
Ability to handle vendor issues
Technical lead on non-conformances, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
Experience defining routing for new components
Hands-on with documentation: creating routings in ERP, making 3D models from customer drawings, and handling prints
Up-to-date knowledge of metallurgy, 3rd-party heat treating, and complex specs, finishes/coatings
Depth of experience in complex, tight tolerance machining of loose power transmission components
Experience leading people and projects
Ability to communicate effectively with machinists, vendors, and CEOs
Proactive attitude towards problem-solving
Understanding of continuous improvement
Preferred
Deep knowledge of metallurgy and heat treatment
Knowledge of milling, turning, hobbing, shaping, and grinding
Proficient in CAD and ERP systems
Ability to read complex blueprints and navigate quality requirements
