Responsibilities
Operates a variety of equipment, including large vehicles and heavy equipment
Maintains and performs routine maintenance on roadways, right of ways, and flood control structures; may operate equipment in the support of Solid Waste operations, to include trucking
Applies mathematical computations for projects and maintenance, including on-site projects, such as: cutting slopes, reading blueprints, and surveying; prepares reports
Performs operator-level maintenance on vehicles and equipment; performs manual labor
May supervise a small number of operators, workers, and laborers, potentially including inmates
Qualification
Required
One (1) year of experience operating equipment in construction or a field related to the specific job
Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and ability to be covered by county insurance; OR attain an Arizona Class A CDL within 5 months of employment date
Considerable knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances, and regulations
Considerable knowledge of occupational hazards and proper safety precautions
Good knowledge of the operation, maintenance of vehicles and heavy equipment
Working knowledge of interpretation of blueprints
Working knowledge of surveying techniques
Considerable skill in operating and servicing equipment
Good skill in making mathematical computations
Ability to operate various types of equipment safely and efficiently
Ability to perform manual labor
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public
Ability to read, write and speak English
Ability to follow written and verbal instruction
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to oversee a crew engaged in unskilled or semi-skilled tasks
Ability to supervise an inmate work crew
Preferred
Preference may be given to applicants who possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License
